About Trek
In 1976 Trek Bicycles began modestly in a former carpet warehouse, known as the “red barn,” in Waterloo, USA. Initially producing steel touring frames, Trek expanded and moved to a larger facility in 1980, where it started manufacturing road racing bikes. By 1983, Trek introduced its first mountain bike, followed by accessories in 1984. Transitioning from steel to aluminum bikes in 1985, Trek launched its first full carbon frame in 1989.
Trek’s reputation for quality stems from their innovative engineering, durable materials, and cutting-edge technology. Their carbon bikes use patented OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void) carbon, offering an ideal balance of low weight and high strength. Rigorous testing ensures reliability and performance, meeting diverse cycling needs. With a legacy of craftsmanship, Trek delivers high-performance bikes that riders trust and love.
With a long pedigree in competitive road racing, Trek sponsored the Trek Factory Racing Team in 2014, renamed Trek–Segafredo a couple of years later. Trek provided bikes for winners like Fabian Cancellara, Alberto Contador, and Jens Voigt, supporting Voigt’s Hour Record. By 2020, Trek had successful Trek-Segafredo men’s and women’s race teams. In 2023, it was announced that both teams would rebrand as Lidl–Trek, thanks to sponsorship from supermarket chain Lidl. This rebrand took effect on June 30, prior to the Giro Donne and the Tour de France / Tour de France Femmes..
