Design Philosophy
- Developed for modern gravel racing, the ASTR RS addresses the increasing roughness and speed of races. It aims to conserve rider energy through optimized aerodynamics, comfort, reduced rolling resistance, and efficient climbing, giving racers an advantage in the final stages of competition.
What makes the ASTR RS so fast?
Diffuser fork crown
The integrated diffuser in the fork crown reduces drag by improving airflow. This design allows air to pass more easily through the fork crown and around the downtube, resulting in less resistance and increased speed.
Weight of a climbing bike
Ridley’s Astr combines aerodynamics and lightweight design. The Astr RS frame, part of the Elite series, weighs only 890 grams in size medium. It combines lightweight design with aerodynamic features through sleek tube profiles and specialized carbon lay-up.
Performance geometry
The Astr’s modern performance geometry offers improved stability and handling. It features a 71.5-degree headtube angle, steeper seat tube, short chainstays, lower bottom bracket, and lower head height. This design caters to ambitious gravel racers, providing responsiveness and aerodynamic positioning.
Tyre clearance
The Astr family accommodates tires up to 52 millimeters on a 1x setup and 47 millimeters on a 2x setup, preparing riders for increasingly rough race terrain.

If you are looking for an absolute out and out aero gravel racebike, then you have come to the right place. It’s climbing bike levels of weight, with the all the aero features of a FALCN RS but taking 52mm tyres on a 700c wheel.

Ridley ASTR standard model options
If you are looking for an absolute out and out aero gravel racebike, then you have come to the right place (albeit the slightly less aero version).
It’s near climbing bike levels of weight, with the aero features of the Falcn but taking 52mm tyres on a 700c wheel.
It is a (little) heavier, less diffuser touches around the frame and uses a classic round seatpost, rather than the aero found on the ASTR RS, with x1 or x2 setups.

When you are ready, open the configurator to take you to the relevant model on the Ridley bikes configurator. Pick your size (if you aren’t sure then don’t worry we can change that later) and then design your bike.
Finish the process by picking the remaining parts and groupset (again it doesn’t matter if they don’t match as our agreed build sheet will be your actual bike).
When you are done you will get a code like “YYV1L8V2RX” which you send to us – this is your frame colour way code.
